Short-Term Goals

While ideally every Ethiopian Jew would be getting on a plane to Israel tomorrow, we know we've got to work with what we've got. That means working towards specific initiatives that can be achieved in the next couple of years.

Currently, of the Ethiopian Jews in Gondar, Ethiopia, only children ages 0-3 are being fed a meal a day. In order to reduce the potential for long term developmental problems, we want to extend this program to 4-6 year-old children as well. Eventually, we hope to provide two meals a day to that 0-3 age group.

Another goal is to extend medical coverage from 0-4 year-old children to children ages 5-10 as well. Since a medical program was set up in early 2017, tens of lives of children have already been saved. We would really like to do more of that.

A third example of a short term goal is the funding of cataract surgery for the 62 people in Gondar currently not able to live their lives due to eye problems.

While these goals may seem random, informing people of certain specific goals that we are working toward can be the thing that convinces them to come to that say, bake sale.
