Myths vs. facts

"Aliyah from Ethiopia ended long ago."

Thousands of community members are still waiting in Gondar and Addis Ababa, many with first-degree relatives in Israel. Government resolutions to bring them have never been fully implemented.

"These are people with no connection to Judaism."

The waiting communities maintain an active Jewish life — synagogues, prayers, holidays, and Hebrew study — and are waiting for eligibility checks the state itself committed to complete.

"There are no government resolutions on the issue."

Several government resolutions have been passed, foremost Resolution 716 of 2015, which unanimously determined to bring the remainder of the communities. The problem is implementation and funding.
